Virgin Posting
Wow, so I never really thought that I’d start a live journal, did you? But I think that maybe this will be a good way to let everybody know what I’m up to so I don’t have to send monthly emails or anything. And I also realized that I really like reading other people’s journals, so I might as well reciprocate, right?
Unfortunately (or fortunately), this is going to be a short post tonight. My prior plan, which consisted of studying from 7:30pm to 10:00 pm tonight, then going to bed, pretty much fell through. It’s now 10:20, and I’ve still got quite a bit more studying to do. Stupid TV.
So it is bad that I’m already getting tired of spending 11 or 12 hours a day at school. I pretty much leave home before 7am every day and get home around 7pm. And I’m expecting to spend at least 10-12 hours in Amundson on Saturday. And how much am I getting paid to do this???
Tomorrow is my first exam in graduate school, in Thermo. Fortunately, it’s probably the easiest class that I have this semester. I also really like the teacher. . .he’s one of my three finalists for a research advisor. Unfortunately, he won’t be there for the exam, and the TA can’t speak English very well. Below is an excerpt from an email he sent us yesterday:
“At first, I appologize you for my mistake in the problem 4 to calculate the density of CO2 which has been found by Abbas. Thank you abbas…. Finally the account and password which I informed you this morning will be activated afternnoon this friday(10/8)…. If you have any question, you are very welcome. “
No, I didn’t even retype this. . .I copied and pasted. Needless to say, I don’t feel very confident that, if I had a question on the test, we would be able to communicate very effectively. And it’s closed book, closed notes, closed calculator, and closed classmates (no surprise there). So I’ve put in a good 1 1/2 hours of studying so far. Maybe if I can do another 1/2 hour tonight, that will be good enough? Wish me luck.
Ouch! Hope that test went well, I’m sure it did. Sounds like your days are really busy!
