Scotch is so civilized
Last Friday, I joined the Tisdales and Rexeisens on an after-work road trip to Sutler’s liquor store in Stillwater, MN for a scotch tasting. Their friend, Chris Huizinga, is in charge of their scotch buying there and regularly hosts a free scotch tasting. These tastings are often themed with similar tastes or something, but this time, all four of the scotches we had were by the same company, but at different distillers spread around the country.
I had never been to a scotch tasting before, so I didn’t really know what to expect. However, it turned out to be a blast. Chris was incredibly knowledgeable on the most intricate details of each scotch; where it was from, what flavors to expect out of it, and why. My favorite was the Glemorangie Quinta Ruban, which had a really nice orange flavor and was decently smooth. Fortunately, I was being reasonable and didn’t shell out $60 for a bottle, even though it was 10% off that day. Oh well.
